Lara Davis is a 3rd year undergraduate student at the University of Georgia where she studies Dance Science, Dance, and Psychology. At UGA, she is an active member of the dance department where she participates annually in the Young Choreographers Series and Spring Dance Concert. In addition, she currently teaches ballet and pointe at Dancefx Athens.
Lauren Dunavant, of Memphis, Tennessee, is a second-year undergraduate student in the Honors Program at the University of Georgia. She has earned the Classic Scholars award and had been named a Presidential Scholar. Lauren is a member of both the Golden Key International Honor Society and the American Medical Student Association, and she also competes as a member of the University of Georgia Varsity Rowing Team. As a Genetics major with a French minor, Lauren is very interested in exploring diverse biological systems through research.
Cassidy Flood is from Marietta, Ga, but now proudly calls Athens home. She is a 2nd year undergraduate student pursuing a B.A. in History, a and B.A. in English, and a minor in Political Science. Following completion of her degrees, she intends to attend law school. Having always possessed a passion for writing and a love of books and politics, this path seemed natural and she is grateful for the opportunity to pursue her interests at the University of Georgia.
Karly Garnto of Buford, GA is a third year undergraduate student at the University of Georgia. She is a Microbiology major with a pre-PA emphasis and is involved in a microbiology research lab as an undergraduate researcher studying Mycoplasma pneumoniae. Her favorite hobby is dancing, which she gets to do frequently as a member of UGA’s only competitive dance team, the UGA Red Hotz. She also volunteers at the Thomas Lay After School Program mentoring kids in Athens in her free time.
Hunter Hellwig is a graduating senior Class of 2016 majoring in History with a minor in German Studies at the University of Georgia.
Treva Hickey of McDonough, Georgia, is a second year undergraduate at the University of Georgia. Treva remains active in her community as a member of UGA HERO’S. She also competes on the University club volleyball team and has hopes of making a club basketball team at the University. As a biology major with a pre-pharmacy intent, Treva also interns at CVS Pharmacy in order to prepare for her future.
Jennifer Samaritan is a fourth year at the University of Georgia. She is a triple major in English, Religion, and Women’s Studies. Jennifer is the president of Triota, the Women’s Studies Academic Honors Society and is passionate about feminist issues. She hopes to continue furthering the feminist political movement through a career at a women’s rights focused non-profit upon graduation. Jennifer would like to thank the Women’s Studies Department at UGA for their continued support and dedication to their students’ success. She would particularly like to thank Stephanie Shelton and Angela Hall for their encouragement through the writing process of this paper and their critiques of previous papers that have pushed Jennifer to achieve her full writing potential.
Austin Satterfield of Ball Ground, Georgia, is a third-year undergraduate student at the University of Georgia. As a Microbiology and Biology double major with a pre-medicine emphasis, he is an active undergraduate research assistant in an organic synthesis lab in the University of Georgia’s Department of Chemistry. He is also a member of UGA’s MEDLIFE organization and an Aquatics Safety Instructor at the Cherokee County Aquatic Center located in his hometown.
Anders Yount is currently a senior at The University of Georgia. She plans to graduate in May with her bachelor’s degree in History. In the fall, she expects to continue her education at The University of Georgia, pursuing a master’s degree through the Historic Preservation program. Using her strong undergraduate education, Anders hopes to pursue meaningful work in the future.
